The Story Behind Social Media Class at OKM Highschool

First of it's Kind

OKM social media's class is the first of its kind. It is a small exploratory class. Amazingly there are only 6 students and one teacher. We have free reign to explore. We began in September and Gangnam Style is our first project.

Our success has created a lot more interest in our class from both teachers and students.

Life Lessons

Social media plays a role in our lives, but how is it useful?

A library has utility, a TED video has utility and so does social media, but if you don't know how to use it you are left behind.

We've been learning how to use Social Media for good and were finding it addictive.

What have I learnt from this experience so far?

I was somewhat skeptical of the power of social media at the beginning of this course, but going through this experience has completely changed that view.

The results of OKM Gangnam Style project have changed many people's views on SM.

It has completely turned around my schools spirit!

Social Media = Waste of Time - Debate!

People mistakenly think social media is about what you had for lunch. We have used it to build a school community and turn around school morale.

Social media is a place where anything is possible. You just have to dream and put your dreams in action.
